I have been receiving the following error “The remote session was disconnected because there were network problems during the licensing protocol” when trying to RDP to a Windows 7 box with Remote FX enabled on a VM.

Environment
Virtual Machine Manager 2012r2
Windows Server 2012r2 with Hyper-V
Virtual Machine – Windows 7 Enterprise x64

After spending hours trying all kinds of fixes I was able to resolve the issue with the following steps

1. Shut down VM, turn off Remote FX power up VM
2. Log into the VM through the console with Hyper-V Manager on server
3. Install a newer version of the Integration Services
4. Shutdown system
5. Log into SCVMM and enable remote FX for VM
6. Power on VM

After that, I was able to log into the VM. One other key is I set up a new OU in AD for my VM’s and also set up a new GPO for Remote FX. Hope this works out for you if you run into this problem.
